Sep 28, 2016 · The boiler pressure gauge read 12 psi. The boiler operating pressure control was set for 15 psi. Steam was spewing from the boiler feed vent like an old locomotive. I adjusted the operating pressure control to the normal steam pressure. Within a short time, the boiler operated the way it was supposed to and the building had heat.

It needed the higher pressure valves, the system was hot water in a six story building but the boilers where rated for 50 PSI. Look at the tag on the boiler, it will say what the max boiler pressure is.

Aug 31, 2016 · Ok, I misread your initial post and assumed this was a steam boiler. While your feed valve is set to 12 psi that's just the minimum water pressure it will maintain in the system. 20 psi is normal operating pressure. The relief valve shouldn't pop until pressure gets to 30 psi (steam boilers are 15 psi).
